Shanghai

Shanghai is the "climax" of the end of the year annual Asian swing. Over the years we've seen some pretty wild Shanghai masters, however this was probably the most wild one we've ever seen. To start we saw many seeds fall early. Rafael Nadal (1) would lose to the Austrian Jurgen Melzer, in the the third round. However what was to come would shock many. In the Quarterfinals Melzer would lose to unseeded Argentinian Juan Monaco, capping of a week of upsets. But the weekend would only get weirder. So the semifinals were set, Murray would play Monaco and Federer would play US Open finalist Novak Djokovic. However Monaco wouldn't last long losing to Murray 6-4 6-1. And Roger Federer would get his revenge, beating Djokovic 7-5 6-4 and the finals were set. Roger Federer (2) would play Andy Murray (4) and the finals would cap off a week of up's and down's. Roger Federer would walk through the famous "Shanghai Steam" first and would be followed by Murray onto the court. However seed's wouldn't matter in this outing. As Murray would start the set with an easy break and would continue his dominance winning the first set 6-3 and would carry over his first set momentum to start the second set with a break and hold and would later grab another break to capture his first ever Shanghai Master 1000. So next up will be my ATP Year End Preview as the players season is coming to a huge finish in London at the O2.
